Presented by VSA Ohio, the state organization on arts and disabilities, Accessible Expressions Ohio (AEO) is a juried, statewide exhibition of visual art created by artists with disabilities. Each year, artists enter in the categories of youth, emerging, or professional artists. Annually, 75 pieces of art are selected. AEO has included more than 1,500 artists since 1996. When pieces of artwork sell, the artists receive the full value they have set for their artwork.
AEO complements MassMu’s accessibility initiatives, which include braille labels and audio components in exhibitions; full accessibility in the building and on the grounds; and a Sensory Room, which is located next to the Fred F. Silk Community Room Gallery in the lower level.
VSA Ohio makes arts and education more accessible and inclusive for people with disabilities and their support networks. A nonprofit, statewide organization founded in 1986, VSA works to change perceptions about ability and disability by connecting people to accessible, creative opportunities and celebrating life through the arts.
