Building on the 19th-century tradition established on the shores of New York’s Chautauqua Lake, Ohio Chautauqua is a five-day community event that combines living history performances, music, education, and audience participation into a one-of-a-kind cultural event the entire community will enjoy.
Daytime activities feature stimulating adult programs and hands-on workshops for youth hosted by local community organizations. Each evening, family and friends gather as live music fills the air. Then, a talented performer appears on stage, bringing a historic figure to life through personal stories and historic detail. This enriching and delightfully entertaining experience is perfect for every generation. With its warm, nostalgic vibe, this truly unique experience is sure to open minds and start conversations.
Edward Ford of the Libbey-Owens-Ford Glass Company founded the great City of Rossford, Ohio. In 1898, Ford purchased 173 acres along the Maumee River to build the Edward Ford Plate Glass Company. As workers came to the factory, Ford named the resulting town “Rossford” by combining his name with the last name of his second wife, Caroline Ross.
Rossford is easily accessible and noted as the “Crossroads of America” where I-75 meets the Ohio Turnpike Exit 64. Major attractions in Toledo are only minutes away from Rossford hotels including Hollywood Casino-Toledo, the Toledo Zoo, Toledo Museum of Art, Fifth Third Field, Huntington Center and Imagination Station, to name a few. Local restaurants, entertainment, and great shopping at Bass Pro Shops, Camping World and your favorite national retailers will make your visit complete.
