History:

In 1954, CTW began with the purpose of providing theatre training for Toledo-area youth. Many children’s theatre companies use adults to perform and the children become audience. As a non-profit arts organization, CTW is dedicated to involving children in all aspects of age-appropriate theatre. Over the years, CTW has expanded to include children ranging from age 5 to age 18. A Teen Company was added in the fall of 1987, offering advanced acting and technical training for teens that have had previous theatre experience. CTW’s family has expanded to students and parents from throughout Northwest Ohio and Southeast Michigan. As one of the oldest children’s theatres in the country, CTW has thousands of alums across the country and the world in a variety of careers like professional actors and actresses, musicians, attorneys, entrepreneurs, clowns, business executives, chemists, and teachers.

CTW has gone through a number of transformations since its inception, all the while remaining true to its mission: to provide theatre by children, for children. CTW operates thanks to its professional staff, families, and volunteers. Captivate your child’s imagination and expand his or her creativity with CTW today!
