The crystal chandelier which hangs from the Palace ceiling is the epitome of exquisite artistry and craftsmanship of the past, and continues to spread light and beauty to generations of Lorainites. The fixture may look dainty from its 90ft height above the theatre, but it weighs approximately three-quarters of a ton! The chandelier is 26 feet tall,over 26 feet in circumference, and composed of over 50,000 handcud lead crystal beads imported from Czechoslovakia. 9 prisms dangle from each of the chandelier's 40 candle arms and it is illuminated by 87 forty watt bulbs. In 1928 the chandelier cost $20,000. Present replacement would be several times that amount.
