Ohio Regional Music Arts and Cultural Outreach (ORMACO) and the Wadsworth Public Library continue Live at the Library with Cleveland-based vocalist Carole Leslie on Sunday, May 5, 2024, at 2 pm at the Wadsworth Public Library, 132 Broad Street, Wadsworth, OH 44281.

Over decades of moviemaking, the industry has supported the notion that the female voice is ideal for promoting their movies. That special theme song would come to be synonymous with the movie. Promoted on the airwaves around the world, it would prompt cinema-goers to think of that movie, to want to see that movie, and perhaps watch reruns (think of Mary Poppins every Christmas)! A theme song almost has a hypnotic quality to it in terms of movie promotion. Many female vocalists created long-lasting careers out of a movie hit, while others disappeared into obscurity.

This presentation will highlight not only those women who sang them but many of the biggest movie themes produced, e.g. Chicago “All That Jazz,” The Wizard of Oz “Somewhere Over the Rainbow,” The Man Who Knew Too Much, “Que Sera, Sera,” Diamonds Are Forever, “Diamonds Are Forever,” Titanic, “My Heart Will Go On,” and many more.

The program is free, but reservations are recommended by registering online or calling 419-853-6016.
