About us:
At the Elevator Brewing Company, we don't take ourselves too seriously. But our beer, that's a different story. It's been that way for the past 15 years, ever since we started brewing in an old grain elevator in Marysville, Ohio.
In March of 2000, we opened the Elevator Brewery and Draught Haus as a place to showcase our beers. Located in the iconic Bott Brothers Building in downtown Columbus, our restaurant has become one of the city's mainstays for fine cuisine and great brews. During the first year of brewing, it was the only place you could find Elevator beer, but word would spread fast, and by March of 2000, we began to self-distribute throughout Columbus, Marysville, and the surrounding areas.
In early 2003, Vic Schiltz, current Elevator Brewmaster, came on board. In the same year, a second brewer joined our team, and in the five years that followed, the Elevator steadily increased production and distribution while refining our recipes and honing our craft.
In 2007, our Dark Horse Lager took home a Bronze Medal at the Great American Beer Festival, marking the beginning of a series of beer festival awards and honors, and spurring the company forward into a new phase of growth. This culminated with a move out of the original brewery to our current production facility located in the heart of downtown Columbus in 2009. Less than one year after beginning to hand-bottle at the new facility, we implemented our first bottling line and expanded production with the purchase of a larger brew house and a number of 60-barrel fermentors. The rest, as they say, is history.
From this point forward, the Elevator Brewing Company began selling a number of its most popular beers into leading retailers, as well as restaurants and bars, throughout the city. A series of regional distribution partnerships would follow between 2012 and 2014, leading to placement throughout the state, from Cincinnati, Toledo, and Dayton, to Cleveland, Youngstown, and Akron. 2012 and 2013 also saw a series of blind tasting award wins at the Beverage Tasting Institute. In 2014, the Elevator signed on for distribution within its hometown by Columbus Distributing Company, a move that will make our award-winning brews available at even more of your favorite groceries, carryout's, restaurants, and bars.
The Elevator Brewing Company was founded in 1999 by a Father/Son drinking team committed to delivering quality craft beer to authentic people just like you.
